A Towel Rail Shopping Checklist For People Looking to Warm Towels in the Bathroom

Until rather recently, to warm towels in the bathroom is considered luxury. Well, it still is, actually; only, you can easily bring that luxury home by getting yourself a heated towel rail.

There are two types of towel rails. The one that a lot of people have in their bathrooms is the regular towel rail. There is nothing wrong with this regular rail as it does the job just fine - you use it to hang your towels on. The trouble is, it only does that, and it fares poorly when compared to the other type - the heated bathroom rail that would let you warm towels in the bathroom. Most of these heated rails will do just that (heat your towels) but some are powerful enough to generate heat for the entire bathroom as well. Interested, now? Read on to learn about your towel rail shopping checklist.

1. Lay-out info. You need to know about the room size and the wall space available, especially if you are going to install a plumbed in towel rail or radiator that would need pipe modifications.

2. Design. There are various designs available in the market, as you have probably noticed on your first visit. They range from modern to traditional. You have to take into consideration the entire scheme of the bathroom. For example, there might be other fixtures, such as lighting or faucets that it has to match. If you have a modern bathroom, it only follows that a contemporary towel rail would look great in it, just like with how a traditional towel rail will look good in a traditional-style bathroom.

3. Hanging space. You also need to consider the amount of space you'd need; this is in turn affected by the number of people who would be using the bathroom.

4. Radiant power. This is the degree of heat that you would want for the bathroom. There are several factors at play here, one of which is the power output of your towel rail. It can also be affected by the size of the radiator and the insulation of your bathroom. Keep these things in mind when you are shopping for one.

5. Power source. Heated towel rails would need power. They can either be connected to your heating system, powered by electricity, or both. The plumbed-in or the heating system kind would save you from an increase in the monthly bill for electricity, but note that it isn't as 'moveable' as the electric kind. The electric kind is easy to set up; there are even free-standing models that just need plugging. You don't need to mount them on the wall.

6. The finish. The bathroom is one fixture-unfriendly location. It is a relatively humid area and the accessories in the room are subject to getting frequently in contact with water and dampness so it has to have a good finish - one that wouldn't wear off easily. If yours has a chrome finish, make sure it is of thick chrome plating or it wouldn't look as good in a few years.

Warm towels in the bathroom with a towel rail and find out why everyone's buzzing about this particular bathroom accessory. You'll never have to put up with awfully soggy towels, and start to wonder why you ever had to.
