Make Homemade Stuffing For Thanksgiving This Year

There is one staple that every Thanksgiving dinner has to have…besides the turkey. Stuffing is my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal and I am pretty sure I eat my weight in it every year.

It would be easy to simply purchase a mix from the store; they are very inexpensive and taste pretty good, but why not try your hand at making the treat from scratch? If you’re going for that old time family Thanksgiving, then making it from scratch will give you some authenticity and a great feeling of accomplishment.

Make Homemade Stuffing For Thanksgiving

Ingredients:

10-20 slices of white or wheat bread (this amount depends on how ?bready? you like your stuffing)
2 tablespoons of butter
1 finely chopped onion
2 finely chopped celery stalks
2 lightly beaten eggs
2 cups of chicken broth
2 teaspoons of rubbed sage
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
salt, pepper and garlic to taste

Toast the bread slices and then let them sit for about 8 hours, or overnight, so that they are nice and hard. You want your bread to be very crispy (do not butter). Preheat your oven to 325? and grease a baking dish.

Put the bread into a plastic bag, crush the slices and then put them into a bowl. Put a pan on medium heat and melt the butter. Add in the celery and onion and cook until soft. Drain the pan. Then, mix the eggs and chicken broth with the bread crumbs.

Next, add the cooked onion and celery to the bread crumb mixture and mix well. Place mixture into the baking dish and cook in the oven for about an hour.

This may sound like a lot of work, but the end result is a dish that will make your Thanksgiving complete.
